Do I need a referral to see a specialist at NSC?

No As a private practice, we do not require a GP referral to access our services and you are welcome to ‘self-refer’. However, if you would like to access a Medicare rebate for your sessions, you will need a Medicare plan from your GP or Paediatrician.

How can I access services at Neuroverse?

You can refer your child yourself or through a GP, paediatrician, or other professional.

Can you visit kids at schools, kinders, and childcare centres for assessments?

Yes — We offer onsite assessments at schools, kinders, and childcare centres, helping children feel safe and settled in familiar environments. Alternatively, you are welcome to visit us at our office in Macleod on appointment bases.

Can I get a Medicare rebate?

Yes — you may be eligible for Medicare rebate under Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) 10 sessions per year, Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) 5 session per year and Helping Children with Autism initiative 8 sessions cumulative.

Do you accept NDIS funding?

We offer NDIS assessments and accept self-managed plans and Plan-managed for therapy services. Currently agency-managed payments are not accepted. You pay on the day and claim for reimbursement via the NDIS portal. As an allied health practice we do comply with all NDIS safety guidelines.

Can I use private health insurance?

Yes — Private health insurance may be utilised depending on your level of cover – please check with your insurer to determine your entitlements before attending your appointment.

Does Medicare fully cover the cost of sessions?

Not entirely. If you have a current Medicare plan, you may be eligible for a rebate; however, this rebate doesn’t cover the full fee. A gap payment is usually required. The amount you receive back may vary depending on your Medicare plan and whether you’ve reached your safety net threshold.

Why is an intake session needed if I only want an assessment?

The intake session helps us ensure that the assessment you're seeking is appropriate for your child’s needs. It also allows us to estimate how many sessions will be required, as each child’s pace and attention span varies. We also collect important developmental history, which provides essential context for accurate interpretation and reporting of results.

How long will it take to receive the report?

Reports are generally completed within 4 weeks after all assessment sessions have been finalised. A feedback session will be scheduled with your clinician to go through the results and answer any questions you may have.

Can your clinicians provide a report for court or legal proceedings?

No — Our clinic focuses solely on therapeutic and diagnostic services. We do not provide reports for legal or custody purposes, and we do not make recommendations about parenting arrangements. For these matters, a forensic psychologist or court-appointed expert would be more appropriate.
