Fees & Rebates
Referrals
There are a few different ways to access support at Neuroverse — and we’re here to help guide you through the process.
Self-Referral: You can refer your child yourself.
Professional Referral: We can receive referrals from any professional involved in their care (such as a GP, paediatrician, or school).
Private Health Insurance: Prefer to see a clinician without a referral? No problem. Many families choose to access our services privately and may be eligible to claim a rebate through their private health insurance. As coverage can vary, we recommend checking with your insurer to confirm your entitlements.
Appointments
We offer both in-person and telehealth (video) appointments for initial consultations and feedback sessions. However, all assessments must be conducted face-to-face to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Session lengths vary depending on the type of appointment, ranging from 50 to 120 minutes.
Fees and Rebates
Medicare rebates are available for psychology sessions under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. Please note that the full session fee is typically higher than the Medicare rebate, and any gap payment will depend on the clinician you see.
A full list of current fees will be provided when you book your initial appointment. All fees are payable in full on the day of your session.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
We offer NDIS assessments and accept self-managed plans and Plan-managed for therapy services. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept agency-managed payments at this time. You pay on the day and claim for reimbursement via the NDIS portal. As an allied health practice we do comply with all NDIS safety guidelines.
Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP)
A Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) is a structured Medicare initiative for individuals with long-term (6+ months) or terminal conditions. Approved by a GP, it coordinates care and supports ongoing management. Under this Medicare initiative, your GP can refer you for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year, which may include psychology services. You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $61.80 per session.
Medicare Rebates for Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
Many families come to us through their GP. If your GP prepares a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. After 6 sessions, a GP review is required to access the remaining 4 sessions. To get started, simply book a long consultation with your GP to complete the plan. If you're unsure how to approach this or feel uncomfortable discussing it, feel free to call us - we're happy to support you through the process.
Medicare Rebates for ASD Assessments
If your child is under 25 years of age and a paediatrician or psychiatrist refers them for an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment, they may be eligible for Medicare rebates through the Helping Children with Autism initiative.
To get the rebate you would need to schedule an appointment with a paediatrician or psychiatrist and request a referral for an autism assessment. They will determine if your child meets the criteria for further investigation. The referring specialist can authorise up to 4 assessment sessions with a psychologist, occupational therapist, or speech pathologist. You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session. If further assessment is required, your specialist can approve up to 4 additional sessions, bringing the total to 8 rebated sessions.
Please note: Only ASD assessments are eligible for Medicare rebates. Educational, Cognitive, and Behavioural assessments are not covered by Medicare.
Payment & Claims
You will need to pay the full fee on the day of the appointment, then claim the Medicare rebate if eligible through MyGov, your Medicare app, in person at a Medicare office or we can help you claim on the appointment day. The gap (difference between full fee and rebate) varies depending on the session type.
